Skills Start Here was set up to assist people who wanted to access practical painting and decorating skills training outside of mainstream learning environments, such as colleges. Our mission is to offer people the opportunity to learn a variety of practical and non-cognitive skills in a live working environment.

R G Carter leads the construction industry with our attitude, investment and approach to training. We currently have over 100 management technicians and 150 apprentices who are educated in-house at the Carter Academy. The Academy delivers NVQ's and Foundation Degrees, as well as all of our health and safety, first aid and other training courses. .

Norwich City Council and the Homes and Community Agency (HCA, the national housing and regeneration body) have entered into a long-term formal partnership. The Norwich and HCA Strategic Partnership???s vision and overarching objective is to ???deliver and strengthen sustainable communities through innovative approaches to joint working???. This project is part of a ten year plan aimed at bringing forward construction projects to ultimately deliver over 1,300 homes and provide jobs for people living in and around the Norwich area. The aim of the project is to generate employment and training opportunities for local unemployed people and for those coming out of training and wishing to enter construction. All job roles are given an element of training to ensure that employment is sustainable leading to long term careers within construction. Through a full OJEU tendering process, Norwich-based Construction Training Specialists Ltd (CTS) were contracted to develop the Building Futures in Norwich package. CTS Ltd are working with the Norfolk Construction Forum to deliver this package.
